E.J. “Jere” Pederson was appointed acting president of the Texas A&M Health Science Center and acting vice chancellor for health affairs for The Texas A&M University System on Oct. 9, 2012. He then was appointed interim president and interim vice chancellor by the A&M System Board of Regents on Nov. 2, 2012.

 

Born in Floresville and raised in Los Fresnos, Texas, Pederson is a graduate of Trinity University. His career includes positions with the Texas Legislative Budget Board and executive positions at several major academic centers including The University of Texas at Dallas, The University of North Texas Health Sciences Center, The University of Texas at San Antonio and The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, where he served  through 2005.                                                

 

Pederson served 10 years on the board of the Texas Tomorrow Fund with a tenure as chair of the Fund’s Investment Committee. He has served on the boards of the Trinity University Alumni Association, the Galveston Ronald McDonald House and the Galveston Boys & Girls Club. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for National Western Life Insurance Company and The Sealy & Smith Foundation (Galveston). He also serves on the board of Trinity Episcopal School in Galveston.
