Presidential Awards

General Criteria for the Awards

Award nominees, and thus award recipients, should be representatives of excellence that reflects an activity, accomplishment or ongoing effort that significantly enhances the Texas A&M Health Science Center (HSC) and/or the health of its target communities and populations.

Given the awards are designed to recognize truly outstanding achievements, it is neither required nor expected that each award be given annually. Awards given, and awardees, will be at the discretion of the president of the health science center.

Descriptions, criteria and eligibility are outlined below for each of the awards. The awards are intended to recognize excellence across the breadth of the HSC, inclusive of HSC-affiliated programs and centers, regional centers, institutes, offices, and clinical settings that may reside either within or outside the official structure of a specific school or college, but are within the HSC. In some instances, awards may be given in recognition of significant contributions from individuals or entities outside of the HSC, but whose acts significantly contribute to the mission of the institution.

Nominations Process

Nominations are solicited from across the HSC by the Office of the President.  Before the nomination will be given due consideration, nominations must be reviewed and endorsed by the appropriate dean, director or vice president (in cases of nominees from within central administration or outside the purview of a specific component or program).  The 2010 nominations are due November 20, 2009.
