The shocking image of a hooded man and a child behind a barb wire fence should prompt a series of questions from viewers.  How did these people come to be in this position?  For what reasons was power exercised in this manner?  Are there any ethical or practical limits to the power exercised by the state?  How were policies designed and implemented that led to such a state of affairs?  Is this a violation of human rights? 

The internationally recognized and award winning Department of Political Science, within the Faculty of Social Sciences at McMaster University will provide students with the tools to ask and answer such questions.  We pride ourselves on our award winning faculty and our exceptional educational programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, which prepare students to work in relevant areas throughout Canada and the world.
