Strategic Planning
The "Pathways to Excellence 2015" Strategic Plan establishes the Health Science Center's purpose and outlines its areas of focus through the year 2015. It was constructed in 2005 through an inclusive process involving representative faculty and staff members from across the institution. It was revised in 2010 to reflect updated priorities, and to more fully align with the recently updated Texas A&M System strategic plan. The specific goals of the Pathways to Excellence 2015 process were to:
- Articulate a vision that reflects the core values of the Health Science Center;
- Identify targeted areas of excellence or signature programs for the Health
Science Center on which to build its state, regional and national reputations; and - Establish the framework to guide the ten-year strategic plan of growth and development of the Health Science Center.
The following documents represent a culmination of these efforts:
Annual Planning Cycle
The diagram below represents the Health Science Center planning cycle. Each phase of this cycle contributes to an ongoing process of continuous improvement.

TracDat Software
The TracDat software allows the Health Science Center to collect our planning and assessment data in a central location, and to demonstrate links between institutional level goals, college/division level goals, and departmental level goals. It also allows academic departments to perform curriculum mapping and to track the assessment of student learning outcomes across all courses.

Integrated Planning System
The Strategic Plan and other major activities are part of the Health Science Center's integrated system of planning. This system strives to create alignment and synergy between key institutional functions. It is designed to enhance communication and collaboration by providing continuous feedback. Each key activity is timed so that it complements other simultaneous events. To view the Health Science Center's current integrated planning calendar, click below:
