Russ Gibbs, D.Min., CFRE, is the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Communications for the Texas A&M Health Science Center since April 1, 2008.

Dr. Gibbs is responsible for strategic planning, implementation and oversight of all matters related to institutional development for the TAMHSC, including the Texas A&M Health Science Center Foundation, The President’s Circle and coordination activities related to the TAMHSC’s colleges. He also is the TAMHSC representative to key business, donor and community leaders.

Dr. Gibbs served as Associate Vice Chancellor of Advancement Programs and Services for the Texas Tech University System and also served for 10 months as Interim Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement and Chief Operating Officer of the Texas Tech Foundation, Inc.

Prior to the Texas Tech University System, Dr. Gibbs was Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas, and Regional Development Officer for West Texas for Buckner Baptist Benevolences in Dallas.

A pastor, Dr. Gibbs graduated from Midland High School and received his Master’s of Divinity and Doctor of Ministries (D.Min.) degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. He received his Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification in 2002 and was recertified in 2005 and 2008. He is a member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Lions Club International.
