In addition to serving as Director of Efficiency Initiatives for the ATEI, John is the Director of Environmental Health & Safety, Security, and Parking. John also serves as the Fire Marshal and local Authority Having Jurisdiction for matters concerning fire life safety. John has more than 12 years of experience in using technology to make operations more efficient. He played a key development role moving the Texas A&M Fire Life Safety group from paper inspections to an automated inspection process. After moving to the HSC, John initiated the move to a mobile platform utilizing Apple iPad devices and developed multiple electronic safety inspection forms as well as forms for conducting inspections related to compliance with the Federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act). He has also brought technology and efficiencies to other programs within EHS including; laser driven fire extinguisher training; online Occupational Health and Laboratory Safety forms and online reporting of fire incidents at the HSC. John is also recognized as the lead inventor of the HSC eduSafe App. John continues to seek out and implement innovative methods to improve operation efficiency at the HSC and across the TAMU System through collaboration and research.
