Six Social Sciences students awarded project grants through Experiential Education

  • In term one, six Social Sciences students were awarded Student Project Grants through Experiential Education.

    Student Project Grants are designed to provide financial support for student-initiated, experiential learning projects, on or off-campus, that allow students to enhace or expand their skills, knowledge and capacities.

    The Student Project Grant recipients from term one are as follows:

    Nicole Allen, Political Science III - Attendee, Intenational Students for Liberty Conference;

  • Tiffany D'Angelo, Anthropology III - Poster presentation at the Ontario Archaeological Society Symposium;

    Alyson Hawkins, Political Science and Women's Studies III - Volunteer abroad, "Service Learning and Social Justice in Costa Rica";

    Suzanne Hunt, Social Work IV - Attendee, "From Chaos to Clarity - A Step by Step Model for Complex Cases" Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Workshop;

    Jacqueline Lau, Health Studies III - Independent research project, "Under the Microscope: The Conflict between Religion and Science";

    Christine Saly, Anthropology and Sociology IV - Poster presentation at the Ontario Archaeological Society Symposium;

Faculty of Social Sciences Annual Food Drive

  • Thank you to all participants in the Labour Studies annual food drive challenge in the Social Sciences. This year, we collected approximately $3,200. (an increase of almost 87% over last year) and 320 items. Each dollar collected becomes a ten dollar donation through Hamilton Food Share's food recovery program, so our efforts mean that in addition to the food, over $32,000 was contributed.

    Congratulations to our winner, Sociology (4th year in a row!).

    In the event that you did not get your contribution for the food drive in on time, you could still give food or a financial donation to Hamilton Food Share.
